For respirators to be considered compliant with a specific standard, they must meet a set of physical requirements as well as performance standards. Health authorities frequently advise using N95/KN95/FFP2 respirators in pandemic or emergency scenarios. Although they are not identical, respirators that have been certified to satisfy these requirements should perform remarkably well in comparison to one another.
